Blackcurrants and redcurrants

pic We produce nearly 200 tonnes of blackcurrants a year for Ribena, so we should be able to supply your needs! Most are grown on nearby farms, and many people prefer to buy trays of machine picked fruit when the harvest is taking place, which are available at a very good price!

The earliest variety we grow is Ben Gairn which is usually in the first half of July, followed by Ben Hope which is larger fruited and less acidic. The last is Ben Tirran which comes in early to mid August.

As you know, blackcurrants are stuffed with healthy attributes, and you can learn more at www.blackcurrantfoundation.co.uk

Redcurrants are so under-rated but whether fresh or from the freezer garnish savoury and sweet dishes to stunning effect. Also essential for summer pudding!

Our varieties Stanza and Rovada come in late July to August.
