Gooseberries

pic The crop appears to have set well in 2010.
We have a strong demand for culinary gooseberries and the bushes planted in 2005 are now cropping well and benefiting from being netted against pigeons.Invicta is the variety we are sticking with, despite the long thorns!

We are also trying some dessert types from Finland, hoping for more success than we have had in the past. They are called Hinnamaki Red and Hinnamaki Yellow and sound delicious in the catalogue.
You will see more gooseberry planting has taken place over the winter, so quantities will increase over the next few years.
